Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort Partners with HiTouch to Outfit Welcome Center

Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Fla. has long been known for delivering exceptional experiences to its guests. The brand-new Sandestin Welcome Center, which opened in mid-December 2014, would have to follow suit—and HiTouch Business Services was up to the task of making it happen.

HiTouch, through its MyOfficeProducts and designWorks business units, designed and installed furniture for 78 offices, four conference rooms, and a 22-cubicle call center on the premier 2,400-acre resort property. The $7.5 million, 40,000-square-foot Welcome Center was designed overall by Piazza Design Architects of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. New furniture was supplied by HON, Performance Laminate, and DMI, and was purchased directly from HON and through NDI Office Furniture.

As the winter season is prime time for “snowbirds,” or guests who travel south to avoid colder temperatures, the timeline for the high-profile, high-detail project was tight. Even so, HiTouch was able to coordinate delivery of the furniture beginning at 6 a.m. the Monday morning after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and have an additional three semi loads delivered at a staggered schedule throughout the week, completing all installation by the following Sunday.

It was no small job. Even MyOfficeProducts Regional Vice President Mike Denny, designWorks Division Vice President Dwayne Deal, and HiTouch Business Consultant Executive James Hodges jumped in to help the installation crew, down to assembling furniture and retrofitting 500 individual chair casters with polyurethane to avoid scratching the new hardwood floors. The crew typically worked from 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day. Even though delivery and assembly took place onsite, there was no interior damage, which is evidence of the attention to detail throughout the process.

“We were able to meet with the client and discern their vision for this important new facility for their resort,” states Dwayne Deal, HiTouch Business Services Division Vice President. “We provided a workflow solution that met the customer’s need, provided plans that maximized the space, and created an aesthetic appeal that aligned with the resort’s existing work spaces.”

Hodges notes that there was a true sense of teamwork from all involved, with Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort graciously offering rooms on the property to HiTouch employees during the installation period in addition to helping with logistics. The owners of the resort were so pleased with the outcome that they’ve already placed additional orders with HiTouch.  

“Our involvement with the project started out with providing simple desk chairs, but evolved,” Denny says. “It is a testament to HiTouch that we were able to meet the client’s initial need, offer additional services based on the breadth and experience of our company, and deliver on what we promised. The client had challenging experiences with other office supply companies in the past, so there were hurdles to be overcome. But we are proud of the results and thankful for the opportunity to go above and beyond. That’s what HiTouch does.”

Tom Becnel, owner of the 42-year-old resort, says working with HiTouch was a first-class experience from start to end.
